The fraternity bus you go on also determines where you stay because they are the one’s who make the reservations. “My bags were a little scratched up and dirty, but all of my clothes were fine,” Shively said. Luckily the bus driving behind Shively’s bus stopped to pick up the fallen luggage and Shively eventually got her bags back.

“Our bus driver wouldn’t even pull over until we got to the next rest stop, so we were all freaking out because we didn’t know if our bags were still on board with us or not.” “On the way back the bus ride was terrible! The luggage compartment of our bus came open some how and our stuff was falling out all over the highway,” Shively said. I spoke with Dana Shively, a freshman in Zeta Alpha Tau, who had quite a nerve-racking ride on her first road trip. Some people, however, did not have the same enjoyable time on the bus. “The entire drive there is like a party because you’re just hanging out with all your friends,” said Marty Heekin, a sophomore in Kappa Delta. The drive to Vanderbilt takes around 12 hours including stops. “I signed up for Sigma Chi’s bus because I know a lot of them and I knew I would definitely have a good time with them.” “Everyone signs up for the bus they want to go on based on which fraternity is renting it,” said Caroline Bateh a sophomore in Chi Omega.

The adventure starts when everyone that has signed up to go, boards one of the charter busses rented by the fraternities. “Older girls in my sorority told me that I should go, but I had no idea how crazy fun it would be,” said Ashleigh Braun, a freshman health science major in Kappa Delta “There was never a dull moment, even the bus ride was entertaining.” The most recent road trip was to the exciting Nashville, Tennessee where the Gators played the Vanderbilt Commodores.

In the weeks before the excursion everyone in sorority and fraternities houses are buzzing, constantly asking the question, “Are you going on road trip?” And for over 1,000 students in Greek life, the answer was yes.
